Rainbow Fruit Platter

Hello all! It's a cozy, rainy day here in Virginia, and I am trying to get back into my normal routine. The last week was pretty crazy so today is a day of relaxing and catching up on blog posts.

This one is a very simple recipe, if you can even call it that. I found the idea on a friend's Facebook page (link to come later) and tweaked it slightly to fit my needs.

This simple dish is great for parties large and small and can be made up to a day in advance. It is very stunning visually and different from your everyday fruit tray. The original recipe had one piece of each fruit arranged on a skewer in a rainbow pattern. I chose to arrange the fruit on a tray instead. Do whatever makes you happy!

The basic idea for this dish is to have a fruit to represent each color of the rainbow.  Here are the ones I used, with other suggestions in parantheses:

Red - strawberries (raspberries, watermelon)
Orange - cantelope (oranges, mango)
Yellow - pineapple
Green - green grapes (honeydew, kiwi)
Blue - blueberries
Purple - purple grapes (plums)

Once you've selected your fruits, peel if necessary and cut into bite-size pieces. Arrange on a large platter in a rainbow pattern or use the skewers. If you want, you can use multiple fruits for each color to add even more variety!
